Distinguishing between the "Micros"

"Micro Denier" is a term for the yarn itself. The term "denier" is what is used to indicate the measurement of the size of the yarn. Therefore, a micro denier yarn is a smaller yarn than normal and is usually a nylon/polyester blend. Patterns manufactured/designed using these yarns that HAVE NOT been put through the suede process are referred to as "Micro Denier" fabrics.

"Microfibers" is simply the name of a company who manufactures fabric….That’s it! The name has been tossed around so much in the industry itself, that now the consumers are using it to describe the type of fabric that is actually a micro denier!

"Sueded Micro Denier" is a fabric that is produced using a micro denier yarn. It is then brushed twice to achieve a suede hand. The first brushing is applied before dyeing and the second brushing is considered a "suede" process which is achieved by brushing with many small pins. The fabric is dyed and sheared…which gives you the final suede look and touch. Finally, a finish is applied to the fabric to enable it to be extremely cleanable. Another reason these fabrics are easily cleaned is the micro denier yarns are smaller, and are woven so tightly together, the dirt/dust/food particles cannot penetrate the fabric itself allowing the finish to work at its best!

"Padded Sueded Micro Denier" is a micro denier fabric that also has a layer of padding between the face and the backing that adds dimension and softness.

"Recycled Leather" is a composite material constructed of recycled leather scraps with a cellular polyurethane face. After-treatment is NOT recommended for these covers.

GENERAL W CLEANING CODE INSTRUCTIONS:
Spot clean only with water based shampoo or foam upholstery cleaner. Pretest a small, inconspicuous area before proceeding. Do not over wet. Do not use solvents to spot clean. Pile fabrics may require brushing with a non-metallic, stiff bristle brush to restore appearance. Hot water extraction or steam cleaning is not a recommended cleaning method. Cushion covers should not be removed and laundered. To prevent overall soiling, frequent vacuuming or light brushing with a non-metallic, stiff bristle brush to remove dust and grime is recommended. When cleaning a spill, blot immediately to remove spilled material. Clean spots or stains from the outside to the middle of the affected area to prevent circling. Use a professional furniture cleaning service when an overall soiled condition has been reached.

GENERAL W-S CLEANING CODE INSTRUCTIONS:
Water base stains include items such as ketchup, mustard, wine, soft drinks and most food stains. Oil base stains would consist of compounds such as ink stains, cake type shoe polish, and cosmetics.

Water Based Stains

  1. The first step is to lightly blot the area to remove excess liquid compounds. This may be done with a paper towel or a light cotton terry.
  2. Using neutral soap and water, gently rub the soiled area from side to center to avoid any halo effect.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with plain water to remove excess soap.
  4. The area may be blotted with a clean towel rubbing in a gentle circular motion to maintain the suede surface or dried by using a hair dryer to quickly complete the drying process.
  5. Finally, buff or vacuum afterwards to maintain the suede look and feel.

Oil Based Stains

  1. In most cases, these stains may be cleaned with a mild soap and water solution as with water base stains if the area is only lightly soiled. Case in point, a light pen mark or light shoe polish on the bottom of a recliner.
    1. For heavier stains, a solvent compound may need to be employed. In this case, any over the counter compound such as K2R upholstery cleaner, or other non-bleaching household cleaners, may be used. It would always be a good idea to spot clean an inconspicuous area first with the cleaner to make sure the fabric will not be damaged. Always follow instructions on the label of the cleaner.
    2. Upon final cleaning, lightly repeat the steps mentioned in section I. with water and neutral soap to remove excess cleaner. Do not forget to buff and dry.
